It’s easy to take everyday objects for granted. Things like your desk lamp, your television, an airplane and even your smart phone alter our lives almost every minute of the day. Not to mention the things that save lives, like vaccinations, MRIs and pacemakers. But behind every little object, machine, and medicine that you encounter, an inventor was behind it. An inventor who couldn’t sleep, who took a risk, who wouldn’t quit until their contraption was just right.
Cleveland Clinic Innovations recognizes National Inventors’ Month as a way to show our appreciation to those who have strived to make their mark on all of our lives through innovation. CCI is humbled and honored to work with a growing population of Cleveland Clinic inventors that take the time to innovate. It’s difficult to imagine a place with a more contagious passion to advance healthcare, and we look forward to continuing our work, and meeting many more inventors in the near future.
We know innovation isn’t easy and that it doesn’t always pan out. The hours devoted to thinking, sketching, protecting, designing, building, testing, rebuilding, retesting are never in vain. Those hours are sacred. Those are the hours when a select few are taking their turn at pushing the limits of our capabilities to make patients’ lives better, fully knowing that those limits are always pushing back.
This May, we congratulate all of our inventors in their endeavors and encourage them to wear those sacred hours as badges of honor. On behalf of future patients everywhere, Thank You.
