Questions?

What is it? What does it do?

The present invention is a storage system to help prevent the breakage of the Radial Endobronchial Ultrasound Probes (EBUS).  At just under $5,000 per unit, EBUS probes are fragile and prone to breaking if mishandled, or improperly stored.  The slim cabinet design is a cost effective solution that allows for storage of at least 8 EBUS Probes in a single cabinet.  Each probe is stored in a manner that not only prevents breakage, but meets high level disinfection guidelines for storage.  Today, EBUS probes are often stored in various types of tubing holders, such as PVC, which cannot be properly cleaned.

Why is it better?

  • Currently no standard storage solution
  • Storage unit complies with high level disinfection guidelines
  • Prevents breakage prolonging life expectancy of EBUS probes
  • Significant cost savings to hospital
  • Simple cost effective design allows for easy handling
  • Optimal low profile design requires minimal storage space
  • Facilitates proper coiling per manufacturer
  • Secures distal tip

What is its current status?

Prototype constructed and currently being used in clinical verification study.
