Coronary Ostial Occlusion Stent (COOL Stent)

Contact Innovation Manager

Kelly Emerton, PhD

What is it? What does it do?

Non-compressible body stent designed to prevent compression and stenosis of aortic side branch during valve replacement.  Increased during deployment, with “z-stent” for position maintenance.  Used for surgical aortic valve replacements, US thoracic aortic stents, percutaneous valves (TAVI).

Why is it better?

Maintains patency of coronary vessels due to COOL stent during placement of aortic valve (coronary ostia obstruction after replacement of aortic valve prosthesis)

What is its current status?

Feasibility prototypes generated

IP Status
