Swifter, Higher, Stronger
The world was riveted by the London Olympic Games and the thousands of athletes pushing their bodies to new thresholds of speed, endurance, and stress. There were more than 1,000 U.S. Olympians, but for the first time in U.S. Olympic history, there were more female athletes than males. The average age of all Olympians was 26, but 187 competitors were 40 and older and 137 were younger than 15. Dr. Schamasch, one of the world’s leading sports medicine experts, along with two Cleveland Clinic pediatric and female sports medicine physicians, share their perspectives.
