Catching the Wave of Wearable Technologies for Patients and Providers
Wearable technology is often pointed to as the signature innovation of our new era. The real-time data created by both healthy and the sick could lead to brand new knowledge of behavior, risks and outcomes, which can bring about nimbler providers and healthier populations. The work to be done with the abundance of data, however, often appears overwhelming. Experts and indistry leaders will give attendees a glimpse of the enormous capabilities of wearable devices, followed by a panel discussion on the market forces and practical collaborations needed to activate the data needed to turn healthcare on its head.

Educating the Caregivers of Tomorrow
Like the proverbial silent tree falling in the forest, technologies won't make the splash we hope them to if caregivers aren't trained to use them. Medical schools, however, are learning that it's more than just training that's needed - it's an entirely new way of thinking. This panel will give an audience a sneak peek at how Cleveland Clinic is investing in a new generation of doctors who will be working alongside cognitive computers, augmented reality and more.

Listening to the Patient: Measuring the True Value of Medical Technologies
Clinical trials of new medical technologies provide a wealth of information on the safety and effectiveness of therapies. While the clinical community is able to answer questions about mortality, complications and device performance, the most important question may never get answered through traditional data collection: How do patients feel? The true value in medical technologies comes when patients not only experience the resolution of their disease or symptoms, but also enjoy a better quality of life. Edwards Lifesciences is embarking on a new study to better understand what's important to patients with aortic stenosis and how one of its heart valve therapies is deliverying value as it relates to their recovery and quality of life.
