Here at Cleveland Clinic Innovations, our technology portfolio is broken down into four domains: Medical Device, Therapeutics & Diagnostics, Health IT, and Delivery Solutions. Sounds pretty cut and dry, but what exactly is Delivery Solutions? The Delivery Solutions group is tasked with commercializing nontraditional products and programs, rather than typical medical devices, apps, or drugs. These products range from survey tools and clinical assessments to operational programs that have been implemented and proven here at Cleveland Clinic.
The best example of a Delivery Solution is the Communicate with H.E.A.R.T.® program, created by the Office of Patient Experience (OPE). After deploying this service recovery program to Cleveland Clinic’s own caregivers, Sarah Stamp, Director of Delivery Solutions, was tasked with finding a way to bring this program to other hospital systems in order for them tocreate a culture of compassionate communication. Since the Communicate with H.E.A.R.T.® program was disclosed in 2012, the Delivery Solutions team has successfully licensed the program to over 50 clients. More than 150,000 people have been trained in the program to date.
The Delivery Solutions team has commercialized the H.E.A.R.T.® and R.E.D.E. to Communicate® programs among other products such as the Nurses’ Knowledge of Heart Failure Self-Care Questionnare and SNAP (a program to prmote hand hygiene), in additiona to assessment tools such as the Activity Measure for Post-Acute Care (AM-PAC) Short Forms.
