Aortic Band

Questions?

What is it? What does it do?

This is an elastomeric band that encircles blood vessels, grafts or anastomoses in order to prevent suture-line bleeding and restore homeostasis post-surgery. This novel band device features a patterned internal surface that utilizes an optimized cellular structure in order to isolate each bleeding point, concentrating leaking blood to a small area.

Why is it better?

  • Low-cost adjunct to sealants and pledgets.
  • The treads in the band’s internal surface isolate the bleeding to a confined area.
  • Effective in heparinized patients
  • Customizable for shape, size, geometry
  • Simple, rapid application

What is its current status?

Patent pending in the US.
