What is it? What does it do?

Cologene is the result of collaborative work between clinicians, genetic counselors, and computer scientists. This collaborative effort, which is based on the newest medical technology, is focused on improving and extending the lives of patients, and accelerating family-based research.

Cologene is a comprehensive pedigree and clinical data management software solution developed by Cleveland Clinic clinicians to ensure efficient care of patients and track family-based studies.  This decision support system provides a user-friendly environment in which researchers and clinicians house data collection, storage and extraction to assist in the early diagnosis, treatment, prevention, risk-estimation for patients and their relatives. Analytical features allow clinicians to arrive at the genetic and lifecycle causes, research risk-factors, and support the advanced research around inherit conditions.

Why is it better?

  • Advanced reporting capabilities allow for complex queries to be performed by any user with ease.
  • Efficiently access and analyze medical, demographic and other related data on families with inherit diseases through a secure centralized database.
  • Quickly mine genetic and environment factors related to specific disease states.
  • Improve patient compliance by coordinating tests and treatments through automatic generation of follow up letters.
  • Construct accurate family trees with ease to identify patients at high risk by virtue of family history.

What is its current status?

Cologene is available online at the ADEO Marketplace.
